Romans 11 - “God is just a cosmic killjoy that does not have my best interest at heart.” This heart attitude is at the core of the lie that the serpent used to seduce Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden. It still drives our reactions to God’s law and the Bible today. How can we overcome this lie? We must constantly remind ourselves of God’s demonstrative love; Christ died for our sins while we were sinners and completely undeserved of anything. Instead of trying to beat our hearts into submission to God, this demonstrative Love can melt even the hardest of hearts bit by bit.
